I think there are no better words with which to present this first edition of The Catholic Understanding of Politics than those that Father Meinvielle himself used in the Prologue to the third edition on Easter of the already-distant 1961: I decided to publish this book again, a book which appeared for the first time in 1932, because it synthetically lays out the main principles for a Catholic understanding of politics. Today there is terrible disorder in minds, because they do not know the most basic principles of the greatest and most important realities …. It is urgent, therefore, that today there be chosen young people who feel the desire to set their mind in order in everything that refers to politics, that they have in hand a book that is easy to read and yet expounds, in a relevant way, the foremost and principal truths of political society.
